TRI-CITIES, Wash.- Three weeks after pulling the plug on the 55th annual Columbia Cup hydroplane races in the Tri-Cities because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Tri-Cities Water Follies has announced an alternative family-friendly event.

September 4-6 from 11am to 2pm, people from around the area will get to enjoy one of the main parts of Water Follies...the air show.

"The cities have been approved to do drive-in movies, and so using that model, we applied it to the air show. And rather than packing the shores with crowds and fans, we will drive in like a drive-in movie", Water Follies Event Director Kathy Powell announced.

Water Follies, with the help of the Benton-Franklin Health District appealed to the Washington State Department of Health and got approved Friday.

"You'll have to get your ticket ahead of time, they'll be an online ticket service you'll be able to use to get your ticket", Powell added."And we will only sell the amount of tickets we have capacity for. The parcking spaces will be approximately 30 feet by 30 feet, and only five immediate family members to a car."

The show will include the A-10 Warthog, the Nay's F-18 Hornet, F-35 Lightning fighter jet and more.

Newsradio 610 KONA is also proud to be a broadcast partner in the event.
