WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) - A Washington man has received a sentence of nine years and seven months in prison after pleading guilty to seven felony charges related to assault and fleeing police.

The Union-Bulletin reports 33-year-old Jason G.N. Barnes Sr. was sentenced after pleading guilty on Wednesday in Walla Walla County Superior Court.

Barnes entered the guilty pleas to second-degree assault while armed with a deadly weapon, first-degree malicious mischief, second-degree malicious mischief while armed with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle while armed with a deadly weapon and two additional counts of eluding.

Both the prosecution and defense agreed the nearly decade-long sentence was appropriate because Barnes' long list of previous crimes, including eluding, stolen property and drug possession.
