Governor Jay Inslee has declared a state of emergency for 28 counties including Benton, Franklin, Grant and Walla Walla after the winter snow storms from January through February.

Inslee says damage to roadways could be over $10 million and impacted people's jobs and homes. He also mentions the Washington State Military Department helped support the state Emergency Operations Center and coordinated resources to support local officials.

This declaration outlines that departments can now use state resources in accordance with the state's Emergency Management Plan. A state of emergency will also help counties later on if they need to request extra funding from the state for storm damage.
