A 34-year-old Walla Walla man has been sentenced to five years in prison for Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography.

During a sting operation in the Fall of 2015, police say Kevin Dettmer attempted to get an officer, who he though was a 13-year-old girl, to send pornographic images and meet up with him for sexual contact in Walla Walla.

Police say it all started when Dettmer responded to a personal ad posted by an undercover task force officer on Craigslist. During the contacts, Dettmer repeatedly solicited images of the undercover officer’s fictitious twelve and thirteen-year-old children.

He also provided graphic images of himself and of an adult female that he purported to be fifteen years old.

Dettmer was arrested in Walla Walla when he thought he was meeting up with the 13-year-old. In May of last year, Dettmer pled guilty to Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography.

The Southeast Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is composed of law enforcement officers from the Richland Police Department, the Kennewick Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.
