KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Three people are in custody after a stolen truck crashed during a high speed chase Monday morning.

Keys to a Nissan Titan were stolen during a car prowling incident in the 700 block of W. 42nd Pl. last week, and the truck itself went missing Sunday night.

Kennewick Police officers responded to a report at about 8:00 a.m. that the stolen truck might be in the area of W. Okanogan Ave., and may have been involved in stealing license plates at the UPS Customer Care Center.

Officers tried to stop the pick-up, however, the driver sped away, leading officers into a neighborhood off of North Center Parkway, where the driver lost control and crashed into a tree near the intersection of W. Metaline Ave. and N. Quebec St.

According to Lt. Aaron Clem with the Kennewick Police Department, the driver, Nikole Pierre, 22, and two juvenile males, both 16 years old, got out of the vehicle and were detained for questioning, while a fourth person ran from the scene.

A police K9 was called to the scene to help track down the suspect, who was identified as a white male wearing blue jeans and a grey sweatshirt, but he wasn't located.

Pierre was booked into the Benton County Jail on one count of attempting to elude, and the prosecutor's office is reviewing the case. One of the teens was arrested for an order violation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Kennewick Police at 509-628-0333.
