RICHLAND, Wash.-- A 24-year old Richland man had to be cut out of his car after police say he was speeding down George Washington Way early Monday morning, jumped a curb, and crashed into four parked cars.

According to Sgt. Hyrum Stohel, several people had called 911 to report that a car was speeding down George Washington Way at speeds as high as 100mph, before the sedan hit a curb near Williams, drove through a grassy area, and collided with the parked cars at about 1:27 a.m.

The suspect's car caught on fire with the driver trapped inside, but Richland Police Officers were able to put the fire out before fire crews got to the scene.

Sgt. Stohel said first responders had to cut the driver out of the vehicle, and he was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland to be treated for his injuries.

The man was cited for DUI, and could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
