RICHLAND, Wash.-- A Richland man has died, and another man is in custody in connection with a stabbing at the Economy Inn in Richland Saturday night.


Richland Police were called out the motel on the 500 block of George Washington Way at about 9:00 p.m. Saturday for a reported stabbing.


The victim, identified only as a middle-aged resident of the Economy Inn, was found suffering from at least one stab wound.


Investigators say the person who called 911 to report the stabbing identified Earnance Beasley, Jr., 65, as the suspect in the stabbing.


Sgt. Drew Florence with the Richland Police Department confirmed that Beasley, who also lives at the motel, was taken into custody for questioning before being booked at the Benton County Jail for 1st degree burglary and 1st degree murder charges.


Beasley is the older brother of former Kennewick Fire Chief Vince Beasley, according to an obituary for their father, dated June 18, 2017.


The victim's name will not be released until family notifications are completed.
