A thief took advantage of the chaos following Wednesday's shooting at Freeman High School, stealing a purse from the car of a parent who was checking on her child.

Investigators with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office say someone broke into a car, swiped a purse, and quickly racked up more than $36,000 in fraudulent charges using checks and stolen credit cards.

Friday, the sheriff's office released pictures of the suspects.

"Property crimes themselves are typically hard for victims to deal with, especially when identity theft and fraud are involved," the sheriff's office wrote in a news release. "But the fact these criminals took advantage of such a tragic situation is particularly heinous."

If you recognize the suspects, you're asked to call Detective Dean Meyer at 509-477-3159.
