Prosser schools superintendent leaves with year’s salary

PROSSER, Wash. (AP) - Officials say the longtime Prosser School District superintendent who went on paid leave without explanation will remain on paid leave until his June retirement date next year.

The Tri-City Herald reports the school board on Tuesday approved an agreement allowing Ray Tolcacher to collect his entire salary of $137,245 along with about $55,000 for vacation, sick leave and other compensation.

District officials announced the agreement Wednesday with a brief statement, which continued to deny any reports that Tolcacher was placed on administrative leave or that he was being investigated.

Details about Tolcacher's sudden departure continue to remain unclear. Sometime after a Sept. 12 school board meeting, Tolcacher went on leave.

Efforts by the newspaper to reach Tolcacher have been unsuccessful.
