A man sits behind bars after calling his brother saying he was being held hostage by two men with guns until $35.00 was delivered, which all turned out to be a hoax.

Pasco police say they arrived at the 2200 block of Road 84 Thursday evening after a man texted his younger brother about being held captive until $35 was handed over. He told his brother to meet him on the front lawn, hand him the money and then leave. He also said he knew the drug habit disappointed the family, but he needed help.

Pasco Police were called by the boy's mom Thursday and say they formed a plan, swarmed the property off of Road 84, only to arrest the man for trying to get money for drugs. He also had a used syringe with brown residue in his pocket.

He was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia.
