After Pasco police arrested a man for felony assault against his brother Thursday, they took in two little girls until they could be placed in foster homes.

Officers say the girls mother allegedly dropped the girls off with their dad on short notice to go on a meth binge and later the fight occurred at the girls grandmother's home, where reportedly more meth is used.

The 4 and 5-year-old girls hung out with Officer Travis Park at the library and then back at the police station, eating up his lunch, while they waited to get placed into foster homes.

Pasco police say CPS caseworkers did not find a safe placement with relatives, so the girls went into protective care. They say the investigation is continuing.

Officers say they posted the story on Facebook because they hope more parents have the courage to get off drugs and if "that is not possible, we wish the kids better lives in new situations."
