PASCO, Wash.-- What started out as a car fire, turned into a structure fire in Pasco early Thursday morning.

The Pasco Fire Department responded to a report of a car fire in the 200 block of W. Lewis St. shortly after midnight, and found a vehicle fully involved in fire.

High wind pushed the flames toward two commercial buildings nearby, causing some fire damage.

Officials say crews worked their way into one of the businesses to make sure the fire hadn't extended to the interior of the building, and found at least two people sleeping inside.

Both occupants were able to evacuate and were not injured.

While pulling apart portions of the ceiling to check for hidden hot spots, a large section of drywall fell on a firefighter.

He was checked out at the scene and was not injured.

The Kennewick Fire Department, Benton County Fire Dist. 1, and Franklin County Fire Dist 3 also responded to the fire with equipment and personnel.
