Kennewick SWAT spent a couple of hours overnight trying to convince a man to surrender to police.

Officers say they were called to the 4200 West Kennewick Avenue Thursday morning where Arthur Madrigal confronted a group of people at an apartment. Officers say he was reportedly trying to fight another man for looking at him.

Police say the 34-year old then pulled out a handgun from his waistband and then left in a car before police arrived. Later that evening around 7 p.m. he returned to the apartments.

When officers responded the suspect had barricaded himself inside a unit at the Sundance Apartments and did not surrendered at about 1:30 this morning. Police say Madrigal is from Othello and has reported gang affiliations. He has been booked into jail for felony assault.
