TOPPENISH, Wash.-- Police in Toppenish are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital Thursday night.

According to a press release, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 10 block of N. Elm St. at about 9:45 p.m.

They arrived to find a 50-year old Hispanic male sitting on a curb suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The man told officers he had been confronted by a person driving a blue Chevy passenger car, and the driver shot him during that confrontation.

The victim said he ran away to avoid any further injury, and collapsed where the officers found him.
