Kennewick officers believe two men shot and killed a 20-year-old when he confronted them as they were vandalizing his truck.

Officers say Monday evening at the Heatherstone Apartments on West 10th officers were called to reports of a shooting. Police say two men were believed to be carving a rival gang's insignia into Jorge Jimenez's truck.

Jorge Jimenez confronted the two men as they were walking away, when they turned around, one of the suspects shot at him at least a dozen times. Jimenez was hit in the abdomen and leg, his friends helped him back into his apartment, but he died before police arrived.

The 20-year-old is a documented gang member and because the suspects were craving a rival gang sign, officers believe it is a criminal gang-related crime.

One of the suspects is described as a Hispanic male, taller, thin build, spiked dark hair in his early 20's. The other is described as Hispanic male, shorter, heavy build, dark hair in his early 20s', he is believed to be the shooter. Both were seen running north through the apartment complex.

The WSP Crime Scene Team responded from Spokane last night and is still processing the scene this morning.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers 586-8477, where you can leave an anonymous tip.
