As adult "coding bootcamps" continue to grow in larger cities, so does the need for the younger generation to take an interested in technology-driven jobs.

“We know the computer science field has a huge gap in it, in fact the projections are 1 million jobs, is how far the gap will be by 2020,” says Ann Wright-Mockler with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Wright-Mockler says as long as the interested is there, the opportunities will continue to increase in the area.  A few years ago, she says in this region computer-related classes or camps for kids were not offered, but now there are a few options.

One of those camps sponsored by PNNL, the Mid-Columbia STEM Education Collaboratory and Delta High School does have a few openings for girls. You can find more information here. Wright-Mockler says because it is a camp focused on girls, there is a waitlist for boys.
