MOSES LAKE, Wash.-- A man was arrested Sunday after trying to run from Moses Lake Police and K9 Rex.


Officers responded to a report of a possible attempted break in at a storage facility in the in the 1600 Block of W. Broadway. The suspect, later identified as Brian Smith, 22, had fled before officers arrived on the scene.


Officers followed tracks Smith had left in the snow, and K9 Rex was able to locate the suspect who had buried himself in some brush on the edge of a lake.


Smith ignored the warnings officers issued about the K9 before Rex was allowed to go into the brush to locate the man, holding on to him until officers maneuvered through the brush to find his hiding spot.


Smith was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and booked into the Grant County Jail on Burglary charges.


Additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
