KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Re-opening the Tri-Cities' economy could be our willingness to wear masks while out in public.

Local agencies are teaming up to distribute washable face masks to lower income residents Wednesday

"These are reusable cloth face covering, so they are designed to be worn and washed," said Deanna Davis with Benton County Emergency Management. "The intent is that we will be giving two per person so that you have one always available. They are a cotton mask that can be washed and worn again."

The reusable masks were donated by local residents and state agencies, with 178,000 cloth face masks for individuals and families who are at up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Residents can pick up masks during a drive-thru distribution at the Franklin County Emergency Management Office, 1011 E. Ainsworth, Pasco, on July 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

While the masks are intended for lower income residents, there will be no income verification required in order to receive the masks.

The Yakima Valley of Emergency Management is also distributing face masks this week.

Face coverings are available in Zillah Wednesday, July 1, at Steel Structures America, 804 Zillah W. Dr., from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

On Thursday, July 2, masks can be picked up in Union Gap at the Valley Mall, 2529 Main St. from 10:00 a.,. to 2:00 p.m. in the Sears parking lot.
