ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- After searching for more than three weeks, the Kittitas County Sheriff's office confirmed Sunday that Jorge Alcantara-Gonzalez, 34, was taken into custody without incident in the Teanaway area Sunday afternoon.

Deputies said an alert citizen was walking through their neighborhood when they spotted someone in their neighbor’s house when no one should have been at home.

Deputies and U.S. Forest Service officers descended upon the house and called out to Gonzalez to exit the home. He complied and was placed into custody.

Alcantara-Gonzales faces charges in connection with the suspected murder of Ian Eckles, 41, from Kent.

Sheriff Clay Myers said: “The arrest of Jorge Alcantara concludes an uncertain and dangerous time for our County, especially for residents of the affected area. We are deeply grateful for the assistance of the residents of the Liberty and Teanaway areas.”

Alcantara-Gonzales is being held in the Kittitas County Jail.
