A man accused to stealing a 2-month old girl from a home where he was staying in Moses Lake is charged with 2nd degree kidnapping.

While staying with a family after serving a short jail sentence for theft and possession of heroin, the man took the infant and started walking toward the airport last Wednesday.

The girl’s brother told police he followed the man and was able to take his sister away from him.

According to authorities, the man had told people the girl was his daughter, and had also said the mother had an abortion and had stolen the infant from him and his girlfriend.

The man’s identified as 24-year-old Levi Hines.
