Man arrested trying to steal car in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Police in Kennewick arrested a man who was trying to jump start a car so that he could steal it.

Officers responded to the 100 block of N. Conway St. at about 1:00 a.m. Friday, where they found the vehicle parked, and the suspect sitting inside.

The suspect had brought a car battery to the scene, and was trying to get the vehicle to start when officers arrived.

When he saw police, Reece Baird, 21, ran away but was arrested after a short foot chase.

Baird was taken into custody and booked into the Benton County Jail for attempted theft of a vehicle and resisting arrest. 20-14833
