RICHLAND, Wash.-- Police in Richland arrested a man Sunday after he armed himself with a pipe, then allegedly broke into another man's motel room and threatened him.

Officers were called out to the motel at about 5:30 pm Sunday at a mid town Richland Motel, after a man identified as John Roberts, 60, from Idaho, allegedly went into the victim’s motel room, armed with a pipe, and threatened to kill the man.

The victim fought Roberts off, and the suspect fled.

Witnesses were able to give officers a description of the vehicle Roberts left in, and Richland Police located the car within a few minutes.

Roberts refused to pull over, leading officers on a chase that continued into Pasco.

Pasco Police and Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies joined in the pursuit before the vehicle was stopped and Roberts was taken into custody.

Roberts is being held in the Benton County Sheriff's Office on suspicion of Burglary and Eluding Police.
