Man arrested after believed to have stolen car, drug the car owner along for several feet

A man is behind bars after police say he stole a car and drug the owner several feet as he tried to stop them.

Kennewick officers say the suspect was arrested Sunday at a home off of the 1300 block of W 14th Ave.

Dylan Amos is being held on a WA Department of Corrections warrant for escape from community custody and pending charges concerning the car theft incident, including vehicle theft and aggravated assault.

Kennewick police say an active duty Coast Guard member stopped at the Big Smoke to make purchases last Sunday. When he came back outside there were two men inside his car. He tried to stop the thieves and ended up being drug along for several hundred feet before being pushed off the car.

The car was later found Sunday afternoon. The Coast Guard member was treated for minor injuries at Trios and released.

While the man was trying to get his car, a woman came along and stole the purchases he had just made. The woman was arrested for theft.
