A lawsuit has been filed claiming an initiative which raised Washington's minimum wage and required paid leave was unconstitutional.

The National Federation of Independent Business joined the suit which was filed in Kittitas County Superior Court this week.

Washington State Director Patrick O'Connor says it violated the constitution because the initiative can only tackle one issue, but it covered two. He also says it failed to adequately describe the content in its title and didn't properly identify who would be impacted the sick leave aspect of the law.

The lead plantiff listed on the lawsuit is Brad Haberman from Number 9 Hay in Ellensburg and he was joined by Northwest Food Processors Association, the Washington Farm Bureau, the Washington Food Industry Association, and the Washington Retail Association.
