Kennewick police: Woman arrested after ripping off gas nozzle before heading to Taco Bell

A woman is behind bars after a witness says she drove off from a gas station, ripping the pump hose off the fuel dispenser, before heading to Taco Bell to get some food.

Kennewick police say a witness called them after watching Shannon Mellon who had been at the Sun Pacific Station filling up her tank. The witness says she got into the car and drove off, ripping the gas pump nozzle from the fuel dispenser.

The witness followed Mellon to the Gold's Gym parking lot several blocks away and watched her get out of the car, remove the gas pump nozzle and hose and tossed it in the bushes. The witness then told police the 45-year-old stopped at Taco Bell and went inside to eat.

Kennewick police say arrived at the fast-food chain and confronted the woman, who tried to lie about the situation. Officers say she was arrested, and a records check also found she had been driving on a suspended license.
