Hermiston woman dies in single car accident

An 18-year old woman died Monday afternoon when her drove off the roadway on I-82, rolling about 300 feet down an embankment.

Washington State Patrol trooper Chris Thorson says Maia R. Taylor was the only person in the car when it went off the roadway at milepost 118, about 5 miles south of Kennewick. Investigators say it does not appear that Taylor was wearing a seatbelt.

The Benton County Coroner will perform an autopsy. Investigators are looking for witnesses who might have seen the red Chrysler 200 driving before it went off the road. They're trying to determine what caused the woman to drive off the road.
