Grant County deputies believe boy drowned after jumping into lake

Grant County deputies say a boy who jumped into Billy Clapp Lake near Summer Falls on Sunday and did not resurface, is believed to have drowned.

Deputies say the Grant County Marine Unit Deputies will now check the lake twice a day with a hope to find the 15-year-old's body.

Search teams were out Sunday evening when he disappeared. Grant County was joined Monday by divers from Spokane County and searched all day before suspending the search that night. On Tuesday, deputies and the family came to the decision to check the lake twice a day.

At the family’s request, deputies will not be disclosing the boy’s name at this time.
