RENTON, Wash.-- High school sports in Washington state will likely not happen until at least September due to concerns about COVID-19.


The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) announced Tuesday that in plans to resume football on September 5, with other fall sports are scheduled to begin September 7. 


The WIAA Executive Board  says it will continue to work with staff, schools, and state agencies to make decisions going forward. 


The board’s next meeting is scheduled for July 22, during which board members will work to create a fall schedule based on the state’s COVID-19 response.
