Firefighters say a 26-year-old Pasco man suffered a medical condition while driving and that is what caused a major crash off Burden Boulevard and 52nd Thursday afternoon.

Captain Jason McGary with Pasco Fire says the driver of a blue Subaru car slammed through a fence, into a backyard and finally came to a stop when hitting the back of the house around 11:00 a.m. Firefighters say he was taken to the hospital but was not significantly injured from the crash.

Pasco police officers say an 8-year-old boy was at the home watching TV and ran to a neighbors when he heard the crash. Officers say he was not hurt.

Later in the afternoon, McGary says the car was able to be removed by a tow truck pulling at the car and a crane holding up the back porch roof. Firefighters say the porch roof had to be completely removed and the house is not livable due to structural damage in the kitchen.

He says a restoration team is now working on the repairs and in a twist of fate the family had actually planned to be on vacation until next week anyway. McGary says the cost of the damage to the home is between $50-60,000.
