A speeding vehicle led Grant County deputies to discover 6 1/2 pounds of meth on Tuesday.

Deputies say the Washington State Patrol pulled over a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche on 283 near George September 17th. The driver had a suspended California drivers license and the car was impounded, while the driver was cited and released.

A few days later the tow truck driver looking around for information on the registered owner believed he discovered a suspicious package containing what he believed to be methamphetamine. He called troopers who called the Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team and they got a search warrant.

On September 27, INET detectives, with the assistance of the Kennewick Police Department’s K-9 team, found a hidden interior compartment holding over six and a half pounds of packaged meth with a street value of over $190,000. A warrant for the arrest of the driver is pending.
