BFT launches on-demand service
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Ben Franklin Transit is now providing on-demand services to help close the gaps in service for outlying areas of Benton and Franklin Counties.
BFT CONNECT has contracted with Via to provide limited on-demand ride service in the following areas:
• Central Richland
• Columbia Center & South Richland
• East Pasco
• Central Kennewick & Finley
The service allows riders to schedule a pick-up at an intersection near your home, or a local bus transfer station. Reach major transit stops with ease or take advantage of the front-door drop-off and pickup service offered at select essential service destinations..
Under normal circumstances, you could also pay the ride fare through the app, but BFT is currently not charging fares due to social distancing measures because of COVID-19.
Because of social distancing restrictions, only one passenger will be allowed in each vehicle per trip, though the service will eventually transition to a shared ride service.
