It is not always easy to beat the heat but there are a few tips that can help you stay cool if you are out enjoying the weather this weekend or at the hydroplane races.

Trios Paramedic Anthony Vinning says the three key things are sunscreen, stay hydrated and stay in the shade. When you say "stay hydrated," Vinning says that means water, not juice, sports drinks or pop. He also suggests you drink more water than you think you need, and ideally start drinking more water a few days before.

Vinning says if you are heading to the races, make sure you pack the necessary items like a hat, sunscreen and comfy shoes. He says the most common injury they see is blisters from sandals or uncomfortable shoes.

If you want to take a break, you can head to one of the Trio first aid tents. They provide shade, water and chairs. One of the tents is on the east side of the park and the other is on the west.
