The proposed capital budget released by Republicans in the State Senate includes more than $40 million for Tri-City area projects.

Senator Sharon Brown of Kennewick says she worked to get in funding specifically for local colleges and historical projects. That includes $8 million for the Science Laboratories Infrastructure project in Richland. The money would pay for two scientific instruments that would be housed at PNNL.

Another $1.5 million will go toward the Whitehouse Addition Homeownership Program in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The money would be split between the Tri-County Partners, which includes Benton, Franklin and Walla Walla counties. The goal of the Whitehouse Addition Homeownership Program is to raise $3.4 million for a 24-home Habitat for Humanity neighborhood to be completed by 2019.

Other projects include, $10.8 million to Tri-Tech Skills Center, $3 million to WSU Tri-Cities, $6 million for the 395/ Ridgeline Interchange in Kennewick and $800,000 for a Readiness Center.
