Grant County deputies say thanks to the help of the community a man believed to have stolen car batteries after knocking on doors asking for work Tuesday, is behind bars.

Officers say after the information went out about the theft in Moses Lake, phones rang off the hook with tips. The 24-year-old was arrested shortly after and is set to be charged with third degree theft.

Officers say the man was seen in Moses Lake near the 12000 block of Road 12 and Road 8 Tuesday morning. In one case the property owner said he stole three car batteries, in the other case, they say he looked to be scanning the property.
