A man is dead following a motorcycle crash which shut down I-84 for a short time to bring in Life Flight.

Oregon State Troopers say the man drifted out of the lane Tuesday afternoon and hit a guardrail for an unknown reason about 8 miles east of Pendleton.

He was flown to the hospital in Walla Walla where he later died from injuries in the crash. Deputies are working with the coroner to identify the driver.

I-84 eastbound lanes were closed in the area for a short time because of the crash.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Umatilla Tribal Fire and Ambulance and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
